What Does The Bible Say?
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. | 1 John 5:13
This verse tells us that we can know that we have eternal life. You don’t have to doubt or question it. You don’t have to wait until you die to find out.
So how can you be 100% sure of your salvation?
1. Realize You Are A Sinner
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; | Romans 3:23
This verse tells us that we’ve all sinned. What is sin? “Sin is the transgression of the law” (1 John 3:4). Anything that goes against the law of God is sin. Things like lying, stealing, and pride, just to name a few.
Men and women, adults and children, “good” people and “bad” people. Everyone has sinned, including you.
2. Recognize The Cost Of Your Sin
For the wages of sin is death; | Romans 6:23a
This verse tells us that there is a price to be paid for our sin: death.
Death is the direct result of sin; not only physical death, but also spiritual death.
3. Understand That Jesus Paid The Price For You
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. | Romans 5:8
This verse tells us that Jesus Christ has already paid the price for us. He lived a sinless life, was condemned unjustly, died on an old rugged cross, was buried in a borrowed tomb, and rose again after three days!
This is the Gospel. This is the Good News!
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: | 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
4. Trust Jesus To Save You
Sirs, what must I do to be saved? | Acts 16:30b
This is the only place in the Bible where that question is asked. So, what is the answer?
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, | Acts 16:31a
It is that simple! Place your faith in Jesus Christ alone to save you and you will be saved. It’s a guaranteed promise; a “done deal.”
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. | Ephesians 2:8-9
Church membership won’t do it. Living a good life won’t do it. Giving money won’t do it. Getting baptized won’t do it. Salvation is by faith in Christ alone! If you’ll trust Him, you can be 100% sure that you’re going to Heaven.
